Mr Yeo Hiang Meng is the President of FMAS. Under his leadership, FMAS has embarked on different phases of transformational change to organise and reshape itself, to ensure that FMAS stays relevant to its members and the industry.

Since 2011, Mr Yeo has successfully repositioned FMAS into a knowledge-based organization to lead the neighbourhood business community. With its vision “To be the Champion for the Neighbourhood Business Community”, FMAS has created numerous interactive platforms for the retailers to meet, share experiences, exchange ideas and gained insight to distinctive business formulas of micro-business owners to face current challenges. All these outreach programmes also strive to uplift members’ productivity and competitiveness.

Mr Jayakrishnan directs Enterprise Singapore’s strategy to develop and strengthen Singapore’s trade and investment linkages with South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Based in Singapore, he leads Enterprise Singapore’s operations in Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Dubai, Riyadh, Accra, Johannesburg and Nairobi.

In his concurrent appointment in the Business Environment & Resources role, he focuses on reducing the regulatory burden faced by businesses and supports the growth of new industry sectors. He works closely with partner agencies to develop and implement industrial land policy that enables enterprise development.

Enterprise Singapore is the government agency championing enterprise development. The agency works with committed companies to build capabilities, innovate and internationalise. It also supports the growth of Singapore as a hub for global trading and startups. As the national standards and accreditation body, Enterprise Singapore continues to build trust in Singapore’s products and services through quality and standards.

Mr Jayakrishnan serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies in Singapore and the Fair Tenancy Industry Committee.

In 2015, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) by the Government of Singapore.

Mr. Michael Chang graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from the National University of Singapore in 1996. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Singapore Institute of Management in 2001.

Michael has over 20 years of working experience in both the private, public and non-profit sector, including ACORN Marketing & Research Consultants, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Singapore, Infocomm Development Authority Singapore, International Enterprise Singapore, Sport Singapore, Singapore Manufacturing Federation and Singapore International Chamber of Commerce, driving strategic development, planning, government relations, policy, industry development, international relations and internationalization in ASEAN and China. Mr. Chang was a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiator and is passionate about helping companies internationalize and grow their businesses locally and in Asia.

Mr. Chang is a soccer fan and his other sporting interests include tennis, basketball, running and scuba-diving.

Mr. Lai Cheng Yi is the Centre Director of Heartland Enterprise Centre Singapore (HECS) since October 2021. HECS is a fully owned subsidiary of FMAS and together with FMAS, is a co-champion of heartland businesses and rejuvenation. He is also concurrently the Executive Director of FMAS.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Lai was the COO of Singapore Economics and Management Group of Companies that organized international corporate training and business advisory services. He led multiple projects to successful completions and established an international base of operations, facilitating Artificial Intelligence, Big Data technology transfers between China and SEA.

Mr. Lai was also previously the Head of Department in SPRING Singapore (now known as Enterprise Singapore) overseeing the Innovation & Capability Voucher programme, SME Portal, Call Centre and LicenceOne Portal. His team also managed Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs) to administer support to upgrade local industries. He was subsequently seconded to FMAS as Executive Director to complete specific projects in championing the growth of heartland enterprises.

In his earlier years, Mr. Lai spent 6 years in China as the China General Manager in charge of all business development and operations for a local shipping line. He also had shorter overseas stints in US, New Zealand, Australia, and Philippines throughout his careers.
