Set up in March 2019, the Heartland Enterprise Centre Singapore (HECS) is a dedicated centre to champion the rejuvenation of heartland town centres and businesses. HECS works closely with merchant associations to tailor their enterprise transformation efforts, workforce upgrading programmes and place-making activities. In addition to supporting merchant associations, the centre provides business advisory services and also conduct upgrading programmes for heartland merchants. HECS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Federation of Merchants’ Associations, Singapore (FMAS) and is supported by Enterprise Singapore. Our three key pillars of work are business transformation, workforce upgrading and placemaking.
The Food Innovation and Resource Centre (FIRC) was launched in 2007 as a joint initiative between Singapore Polytechnic and Enterprise Singapore (previously SPRING Singapore). As the Centre of Innovation for Food Industry in Singapore, we are established to provide food enterprises with holistic technical solutions in food product development including formulation & process development, packaging, shelf life test, sensory evaluation and pilot production for market testing. In addition, we are capable of helping companies to improve shop floor productivity via automation and digitalisation. Our dedicated SFA-licensed pilot plant, application laboratories, test kitchen and sensory suite are helmed by a core team of full-time, experienced professionals who work with food companies to develop exciting new variants, solve manufacturing issues and adopt new practices for an increasingly sophisticated food and beverage market.
Established in 1985, The Federation Of Merchants’ Associations, Singapore (FMAS) is a non-profit organisation that plays a key and pro-active role in representing the interest of the merchants and hawkers under the care of the Housing Development Board (HDB) Neighbourhood, National Environment Agency (NEA) Hawker Centres. We have more than 49 active member associations. These member associations and their members together with FMAS provide a strong network for businesses, education, and community development. Together we share a strong sense of pride and success in our community.
